Not me replying to 8 month old posts, no way.Discovered some old Top of the Pops episodes on Youtube, and been getting my eighties retro on. Been fun, except for that special 1000th episode where Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter show up.
Yeah it's a huge loss. Such sad news. Like many others, over the weekend I'll be playing tons of the music that he made and touched.Still shocked at the passing of Steve Albini, his music and production work have been part of my life since my teens,i,m now 46 and his music is still as important to me as it was way back in the day,his band Shellac are due to release a new album next week which will now sadly be a posthumous release,a true giant in the world of independent music.
Steve Albini: US indie-music giant dies at 61
The musician and producer was known for his work with acts like Nirvana, the Pixies and PJ Harvey.www.bbc.co.uk
All his bands were amazing and so unique, yeah Rapeman are awesome even cooler that the band is named after the controversial manga that spawned an anime ova and various live action movies, all terrible but essential trashy viewing which definitely falls into the its that bad its good category.I was going through my records the other day and found my Big Black and Rapeman (classic Albini name) LPs. I’ll be spinning them this weekend.
Yeah i,ve read various interviews over the years about him and his regrets on various things regarding his work but like it or not its all just rock n roll at the end of the day its all done to be controversial and his reputation was built upon being anti p.c. and it was all a way to get noticed and get talked about, punk in the early days was all about shock value like it or not and we need stuff like that more than ever in this day and age with all this woke crap and cancel culture.I will say that I appreciate how he showed regret for a lot of his edgy (read: tedious) statements over the years, including the name Rapeman.
